On Sunday, October 16, the Newtown Republican Town Committee will host a Family Picnic and fundraiser under the pavilion at Treadwell Park, 39 Philo Curtis Road. The event will offer traditional picnic fare including hot dogs and hamburgers, along with catering from Newtown's own Windover BBQ and Catering.

Windover is preparing a barbecue pig roast, along with salads, desserts, and soft drinks. Entertainment includes DJ music, games and face painting for youngsters.

The BBQ runs from 2 to 5 pm, rain or shine, and all community members are invited to bring friends and family.

Admission is $20 per person, with a $50 family out-of-pocket max. Walk-ups are also welcome on October 16.

Along with entertainment provided by the GOP, guests will have access to playgrounds, basketball, volleyball and tennis at no additional charge. Other children's activities are also planned.

First Selectman Pat Llodra, State Representatives Mitch Bolinsky and J.P. Sredzinski, as well as State Senator Tony Hwang, will be on hand to greet and speak with attendees.

"I look forward to enjoying a beautiful autumn afternoon with all my friends in Newtown. The roasted pork with Windover's secret barbecue sauce is a town treasure," said First Selectman Pat Llodra.

Newtown Republican Town Committee is a nonprofit political organization that exists to promote the best possible quality of life for local residents. Regular meetings are held at 7:30 pm each fourth Wednesday of the month at Newtown Senior Center, 14 Riverside Road. Guests are welcome.

Tickets for the picnic are available for purchase in advance from any RTC member or by contacting Jeff Capeci at 203-470-3736. They will also be available the day of the event.
