Caring For Canines
Caring For Canines
To the Editor:
I applaud Virginia Jess (Letter Hive 10/3/03, âDogs Best Friendsâ) on her dedication to and love of the dogs at the Newtown sound. I agree that it was a huge step forward when the state took official action that dogs be spayed and neutered prior to adoption. In her enthusiastic praise of the people who are advocates for the care and humane treatment of these animals, she inadvertently overlooked one of the most dedicated and caring people involved in the well-being of the animals and the day-to-day responsibilities at the Pound.
If I may continue where Virginia left off, Iâd like to express gratitude to Pat Anzellotti for her hard work and pleasant demeanor. Whenever I have called the pound, Pat has treated me kindly, respectfully and professionally. She has helped me solve problems from rescuing a poor stray to dealing with a discourteous neighborâs animal and she accomplished all efficiently and in the best interest of everyone involved. She has been invaluable in helping Mr Mattegat handle the ever increasing workload and responsibilities that come with the growing population of the town. While Mr Mattegat was on leave for several weeks, Pat handled the workload without skipping a beat. She obviously cares about the animals at the pound and she kept them clean, walked, and fed long before she had the help of the wonderful volunteers that have pitched in since. I think Virginia used the words âcompassion and integrityâ in her letter and I canât think of a better way to say it. Thank you Pat for all youâve done for the residents of our town, canine and human alike.
