There are a lot of opinions about what we should do with Fairfield Hills, but one thing is for sure: we did the right thing by buying it, and we got it at a bargain price.

Herb Rosenthal has effectively negotiated our town’s agreement with the state for the purchase of Fairfield Hills, scheduled to be completed soon. For a mere $3.9 million, we control that huge tract in the center of town.

He is intimately familiar with the elements of the contract with the state, and he saw to it that our interests were protected especially on the environmental side.

Herb worked with the Ad Hoc Committee on Fairfield Hills for over two years, seeking the taxpayers’ input, investigating the many options, and trying to satisfy the competing and in some cases opposing views of different individuals and groups.

Fairfield Hills is a complex issue, and we should keep Herb Rosenthal in office because he knows the details, understands the challenges, and as a Newtowner won’t quit on what’s best for Newtown.
