RYASAP Offers

Youth Leadership Training

BRIDGEPORT — The Regional Youth/Adult Substance Abuse Program (RYASAP) is offering training on local coalition development, sustaining youth leadership involvement, and evaluating prevention efforts Thursday, October 23, from 8:30 am to 4 pm.

The training will commence with a keynote address from Gary Najarian, project director of the Connecticut Coalition to Stop Underage Drinking. Participants may choose from three separate workshops or bring “teams” from their communities to attend all three.

“Building and Sustaining Coalitions” teach participants how to provide a grassroots solution for communities where individual groups and organizations can no longer afford to work in isolation because resources are too few and programs too diffuse. “Making Sense of Your Date to Enhance Prevention Efforts” reviews the purpose and design of needs assessment, data collection, and more. “So You’ve Got a Youth Group — Now What?” explores practical ways to engage youth in prevention projects to create change on the local and state level.

For more information, or to register, contact Karin Mott at 860-523-8042, ext 14, email Karin.mott@preventionworksct.org or visit www.preventionworksct.org.

Deadline to apply is October 10.
