Youth Leadership Training
BRIDGEPORT â The Regional Youth/Adult Substance Abuse Program (RYASAP) is offering training on local coalition development, sustaining youth leadership involvement, and evaluating prevention efforts Thursday, October 23, from 8:30 am to 4 pm.
The training will commence with a keynote address from Gary Najarian, project director of the Connecticut Coalition to Stop Underage Drinking. Participants may choose from three separate workshops or bring âteamsâ from their communities to attend all three.
âBuilding and Sustaining Coalitionsâ teach participants how to provide a grassroots solution for communities where individual groups and organizations can no longer afford to work in isolation because resources are too few and programs too diffuse. âMaking Sense of Your Date to Enhance Prevention Effortsâ reviews the purpose and design of needs assessment, data collection, and more. âSo Youâve Got a Youth Group â Now What?â explores practical ways to engage youth in prevention projects to create change on the local and state level.
