The Newtown Community Center, 8 Simpson Road, welcomed residents to an open house on October 5, officially presenting the facility to the public.

Visitors found diverse activities such as the Bethel VNA and Visiting Angels providing flu shots to those wishing one, to belly dancing demonstrations and more. The Beardsley Zoo, located in Bridgeport, had a team member on hand to provide information on the zoo and share the sounds of one of its more unusual offerings: the Madagascar Hissing Cockroaches.

The Newtown Community Center opened its doors in late July, and has attracted an impressive number of memberships already. From kids to adults, plenty of fun was had on October 5 as all explored Newtown's new center and the adjacent Newtown Senior Center, wowed by the programs already underway.
