To The Editor:

I like Jeff.

It may not rhyme like “I like Ike”, but anyone as old as I am will appreciate how strongly supportive that phrase is.

I like Jeff because he is already doing a great job as Newtown’s First Selectman.

I like Jeff because he already has an open door policy and communicates with all members of the Newtown Community. Try it out for yourself

I like Jeff because I can recognize leadership when I see it, and I see in Jeff a natural instinct for leadership.

Everyone knows Jeff spent ten years on the Legislative Council, six as chairman. Less well known is his service on two Charter Revision Commissions, one of which he chaired and on which I also served. I saw Jeff’s leadership first hand. He guided that Commission through several difficult issues where members had strongly held differing opinions. In the end approval of the final report was unanimous, and I can tell you it was because of Jeff’s leadership that that result was achieved.

So I like Jeff.

Please vote for him as soon as you can (starting October 20, 10 am to 6 pm), and if you cannot vote early, get to the polls on November 4, 6 am to 8 pm.
