The Newtown Bee has learned that Newtown resident and former long-time Newtown High School music educator Joseph Paul Grasso passed away on October 9.

The Newtown High School Marching Band & Guard annual home show at Blue & Gold Stadium is named in Grasso's honor, and is celebrating its 25th year this weekend.

Those who wish to contribute sentiments about Grasso’s passing, memories, how he inspired young musicians, and other personal thoughts, as well as photos, are encouraged to contact Reporter Alissa Silber at alissa@thebee.com.
