Abraham âAbeâ Golub, 89, died October 4 at his home in Newtown. A native New Yorker, Mr Golub was born on September 26, 1918, in Brooklyn, and was a resident of Danbury for 40 years.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Beatrice; his son, Kenneth and his wife, Helen; his two daughters, Martha and her husband, Jimmy, and Suzanne; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He attended New York City public schools and received a masterâs degree in history from Western Connecticut State University. Mr Golub began his career in the photography field and served during World War II in the Army Air Corps teaching photography techniques to the troops. He went on to a career as a master builder in New York and Connecticut, building private homes, including one designed by Edward Durrell Stone in Greenwich.
Mr Golub was dedicated to strengthening the Jewish community and helped build BâNai Israel Synagogue in Danbury. He founded and built the Maimonides Academy in Danbury and served on the board of directors and other committees. A loving husband and father, he was dedicated to family, friends, and community.
Services for Mr Golub were held at Congregation BâNai Israel, Danbury, October 8.
