The Chamber of Commerce of Newtown is hosting an event to help introduce the community to the agencies and support service providers that are also resources listed in the Chamber’s “Need Help” brochure that was circulated to all Newtown homes earlier this year by mail.

The event is free and scheduled for Friday, October 25, from 10 am to 2 pm, at NYA Sports & Fitness Academy, 4 Primrose Street on the Fairfield Hills campus.

This is a free event, and all are welcome.

The Need Help brochure was developed in response to the need for members of our community to have a quick reference to trusted resources in the Community. This brochure lists key resources in the community that deal with domestic violence, drug and alcohol abuse, mental health and emergency health needs.

It also lists 24/7 numbers and websites to have these services at your fingertips in an emergency so you not do have to rely on trying to search the internet in a time of crisis.

Newtown First Selectman Dan Rosenthal is expected to attend to make some remarks and introduce the new Town Director of Human Services, Natalie Jackson. All of the trusted resources in the brochure will be present at this event and will hold small group presentations about their services between 10 am and 2 pm.

Additionally, all of the Chamber members who supported this initiative have been invited to meet visitors and share information about their products and services.

All Newtown residents are invited to drop by to learn more about these resources and how they serve our Community.

Key resources in attendance will be:

*Newtown Parent Connection (alcohol and drug abuse);

*Kevin’s Community Center (medical clinic);

*Newtown Department of Human Services (Center for Support & Wellness, Social Services, and Senior Services);

*Newtown Youth and Family Services (mental health);

*Resiliency Center of Newtown (mental health for those impacted by 12/14);

*Women’s Center of Greater Danbury (domestic violence).
