To the Editor:

It is my pleasure to support Jordana Bloom for town clerk. A Newtown resident for 19 years, Jordana has deep intelligence, an energized work ethic, and is highly perceptive about ways to improve our community. She habitually steers herself to new challenges and has a wealth of experience, including her current seat on Legislative Council, serving for two terms. She is a former retail business owner and has office experience supporting businesses in professional services. She has a natural adaptability and wide perspective from time as a transplant living in China and Spain.

I worry that elected positions held potentially for decades by the same person can lead to complacency. It has not gone unnoticed that the incumbent town clerk has erred for a second time in a year regarding the printing of absentee ballots, an important component of the job. I believe this salaried position requires a more critical eye by voters than in the past, especially given the strong candidacy of Jordana.

I urge Newtowners to vote for a fresh direction under Jordana Bloom for town clerk’s office.
