Award winning artist and educator Bill Glass has been chosen to present a solo exhibition of 30 of his most recent photographs during November at Cyrenius H. Booth Library, 25 Main Street.

The exhibition will be presented in the lower meeting room, and can be viewed during regular library hours when the room is not otherwise being used: Monday through Thursday, 9:30 am to 8 pm; Fridays, 11 am to 5 pm; Saturdays, 9:30 am to 5 pm; and Sundays, noon to 5 pm.

The public is invited to attend an opening reception on Sunday, November 5, from 2 to 4 pm.

Bill Glass is an American painter, colorist, and photographer. He studied painting, drawing, and color theory with a number of highly recognized artists, including Sewell Sillman and Josef Albers of Silvermine and Yale. His primary artistic interests involve the impact of color, light, and composition to support the ability of an image to tell a story.

Mr Glass was a founding member of ArtPlace, an artist's cooperative and gallery in Southport. He was also a member of Artists 12, an artist's cooperative studio space, where he had his first painting studio.

Mr Glass is an award-winning educator and served as the visual arts coordinator for the Bridgeport Public Schools overseeing art instruction for 16,000 students. He is currently the deputy superintendent of schools in Danbury, the seventh largest school system in Connecticut.

He has earned six university degrees, including degrees in fine arts and art education and also a doctorate from Columbia University, where he graduated summa cum laude.

The artist has lectured and taught at Yale University, the University of Connecticut, Fairfield University, Sacred Heart University, the University of Bridgeport, and Western Connecticut State University.

He is becoming well known for his dramatic and often breathtaking use of color, as well as for his compelling images in black and white and sepia tone.

Of his photography, the late curator Lorenzo Blanchet said, "Bill's photographs have been described as stunning, magical, surreal, and timeless for good reason. Each image tells a unique story as he invites the viewer to see an amazing world through his artistic eye."

In addition to all that, Mr Glass is also a musician, target archer, Japanese gardener, and black belt-level martial artist having studied Shotokan karate, kung fu, and tai chi.

He is married to singer, songwriter, and guitar teacher Diane Glass. They have performed extensively together in bands and as a duo featuring songs from Diane's album Nocturne. They reside in Newtown, where they have lived happily for more than 30 years.
