A Fight For America’s Core Values

To the Editor:

The Republican Party recognizes that in a free society, the primary role of government is to protect the God-given inalienable rights of its citizens.

By contrast, today’s Democratic Party has been pulled to the far left of that ideal by those who seem to believe that America is inherently evil, and therefore government must control our actions, speech and thoughts.

Biden/Sanders’ elaborate “Unity” policies expose Biden’s plans for controlling us. For example, Biden proposes a version of AOC’s radical Green New Deal that will inevitably kill jobs, increase our taxes and energy costs astronomically, and cripple us with rolling blackouts and overbearing regulations, with no meaningful environmental benefit.

To fix racism, Ibram Kendi, a darling of Biden’s left-wing, proposes establishing a federal bureaucracy to approve and monitor all federal, state, and local policies, and even monitor public officials’ ideas. Totalitarianism.

Should the Democrats gain power, attacks on reputations and livelihoods that we’ve seen when individuals don’t speak the leftist narrative will escalate. Left-wing anarchist mobs will be emboldened to commit further violence and destruction.

America’s tyrannical transformation will be permanent because Democrats have told us what they’ll do to retain their power, and curtail ours:

*Add seats to the Supreme Court, and fill those seats with judges who change laws to fit their ideology, rather than interpret the constitutionality of laws.

*Add Puerto Rico and Washington DC as US states, giving Democrats four more Senate seats.

*Eliminate the Senate filibuster to silence minority voices.

*Abolish the Electoral College, leaving only large cities with a voice in national elections.

This election is a fight for America’s core values. If you believe in liberty over tyranny, prosperity over poverty, capitalism over socialism (think Venezuela), the rule of law over mob rule, then I urge you to get out and vote Republican.

The views expressed are my own, and not on behalf of the Legislative Council, of which I am a member.

Thi letter contains many falsehood, readers should fact check before taking them for truth. A little less partisanship might be helpful in reuniting the Country.

Has Vice President Biden not proposed a Green New Deal? Has Mr. Kendi not proposed a federal agency for monitoring? Is Vice President Biden’s position on the number of Justices he wants unequivocally clear? Are the public statements favoring statehood inaccurate? Similarly, was the call to eliminate the filibuster misreported? Is there not a call among some to abolish the electoral college such as in the comments in this string?

Do your fact checking and you will see that this letter contains the truth.

I am appalled by the tone of this letter. I am offended by the generalizations and allegations that are made. I am disheartened that this person is on the Newtown Legislative Council.

Isn’t democracy a core value of America? Isn’t it MORE democratic to NOT have the electoral college, which allows candidates who LOSE the popular vote to govern the country? Yes, yes, I know the beloved founders instituted the electoral college, but this is just one example that we should not be beholden to the prejudices (in this case against non-elites) of our founders.

Also. Please stop drinking the Fox kool-aid. It is not good for any of us.

The United States is a constitutional republic, not a pure democracy. The purpose of a constitutional republic is to place limits on the tyranny of the majority. (Protecting the rights of the minority from the will of the majority.) In a pure democracy, the majority has almost limitless power over the minority. The U.S. Constitution provides for many protections against the tyranny of the majority. Instituting the Electoral College for presidential elections is but one of these protections. Another example of these Constitutional protections is that each State has two US Senators, thus an equal voice in the Senate, regardless of its population.

      1. jh says:

Tyranny of the minority over the majority seems the greater wrong to me.

        Well said, Cathy.

I have always enjoyed the Letters section of the Bee. Even when people offered strong political views, they were both reasoned and reasonable. Apparently, the editors no longer screen letters to keep out fringe theories. The contents of this letter are straight out of the Right Wing echo chamber. I’m surprised there isn’t a quote from Q-Anon.

I know many Republicans and Democrats. I know, for a fact, that while they may disagree on the politics of its leaders, they all care deeply about America. Does the letter writer truly believe that all the activists advocating for Biden and other down-ticket Democrats are all secret Socialists? If so, it says more about the letter writer’s own fearmongering than any actual truths.

Liberty and tyranny cannot be united. There are radical-left forces in this country that want to destroy our country from within—transform it into something it was never meant to be. (Socialist/communist Bernie Sanders is such a force.) I believe the vast majority of Americans of all stripes (republicans, independents and democrats) don’t want such a transformation, which is likely why “Moderate Joe” was nominated as the Democratic presidential candidate over Bernie Sanders. But, “Moderate Joe” has now “united” with socialist/communist Sanders, to move the DNC platform to the far left.

Hopefully this vast majority of Americans will stand united to preserve America as the land of liberty. But, first they must be made aware of the facts that might be ignored by a biased media. (Such as the policies detailed in the Biden-Sanders Unity document.) So I encourage readers to do their own research, and make sure you know what it is you’re voting for. I’ll give you some food for thought based on my letter.

In addition to the first sentence in my letter, which came directly from the RNC platform, here are a few of the other principles the Republican Party reaffirmed:
    – We affirm – as did the Declaration of independence: that all are created equal, endowed by their Creator with inalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
    – We believe our constitutional system – limited government, separation of powers, federalism, and the rights of the people – must be preserved uncompromised for future generations.
    – We believe that people are the ultimate resource –and that the people, not the government, are the best stewards of our country’s God-given natural resources.

You can Google “Biden-Sanders Unity Task Force Recommendations,” for a look at Biden’s 110-page document. I challenge you to find any such sentiments on individual liberty and limited government. Rather, the policies proposed are predominantly centered on the federal government taking further control over our lives and choices. Even down to federal government control of our modes of transportation, our schools, our town character, our health care, our jobs, our income, our appliances, and even our homes. The far-left’s philosophy seems to be, “I had an idea, and you will comply.”

For some analysis of Biden’s energy policies, you can look at the Institute for Energy Research website, e.g., “The Bitter Truth Behind The Biden-Harris Green Energy Future” and “The Biden Energy Plan Is Like California’s—But Worse.”

The proposal from Kendi to which I refer can be found on Politico, titled, “Pass An Anti-Racist Constitutional Amendment”.

In closing, I’ll include a couple comments from Bohdan Shandor, the president of the Ukrainian American Bar Association, from his opinion piece in The Ukrainian Weekly titled, “A vote for Biden is a vote for the extreme radical left.” Mr. Shandor says:

‘The Biden-Sanders manifesto is every bit as radical as Mr. Sanders wanted. In May, Mr. Biden vowed that he wants “not just to rebuild the economy, but to transform it.” The world has seen what a “transformed economy” looks like in Venezuela, Nicaragua, Cuba and the Soviet Union.’
    And:
‘Did our grandparents and parents flee from the shackles of Socialism and Communism only to have a repeat performance in the United States? I know as certainly as there is God that this will not happen if the truth is known.’
