I’m writing to express my unwavering support for Derek Pisani, an incumbent District 1 member of Newtown’s Legislative Council, running for re-election. He has my vote, and I urge you to get to know him as I do. Prior to volunteering as a public servant, Derek spent more than thirty-years working in the financial sector, where his skill and dedication to fiscal responsibility earned him a reputation for reliable, thoughtful analysis and excellent financial planning outcomes. He possesses deep experience in contract negotiations, compliance, reconciliations, and operational due diligence, as well as a keen insight into “back-office operations”. His caring ways and empathy give Derek a keen perspective, and position him well for the responsibilities of being a Legislative Council member.

In observing his work, Derek does not simply show-up for meetings, or “check the boxes”. One only needs to meet him to feel the connection he and Domenica, his wife of 35-years, have to our town. Derek Pisani truly cares, and it shows every day, as he speaks with neighbors and folks around town, or at their doors, about what really matters most to them.

Among the issues he hears most about is Newtown’s growing lack of affordability, especially given the past two-budgets’ large “generational” tax increases, contentiously-passed by the council’s majority. Derek and I have had numerous conversations about the need to “pump the brakes” on spending and inefficiencies over the past couple years.

I appreciate Derek’s tireless preparation, the consideration in his background, the dedication he brings to our town, and his insights into finding efficiencies in the operations of our town. I respect his thirty-plus years in the financial sector, working his way up to Chief Operating Officer, and Compliance Officer for multi-million dollar hedge funds, and I know he’s an incredible asset to Newtown’s Legislative Council. .

Your vote for Derek Pisani is a vote for experience, concern for community, affordability, our future, and for a stand-up person who’ll fight for all of us..
