Authors To Speak At Annual Meeting

BROOKFIELD — Judy and Paul Karasik, authors of The Ride Together: A Brother and Sister’s Memoir of Autism in the Family, will be guest speakers at Ability Beyond Disability’s annual meeting at the Candlewood Inn, in Brookfield, on Tuesday, October 21, at 6 pm. The annual meeting will include induction of new members to the Leadership Board of Ability Beyond Disability and a report to the community.

The featured speakers, Judy and Paul Karasik, wrote The Ride Together about growing up with their older brother, David, now in his 50s, who has retardation and autism, a disorder that affects the ability to process information and communicate in nearly 1.5 million children and adults.

They wanted others to realize how David, their autistic sibling, coped with his world. The authors will also be answering questions from the audience and signing copies of their book at the annual meeting.

The event is free and open to the public. Anyone who would like to attend should contact Sheila DeMott at Ability Beyond Disability, 775-4700, ext 0402, or by e-mail, sdemott@abilitybeyonddisability.org.
