Does Landscaping Spread Invasive Plants?

SOUTH BRITAIN — The topic for Lillinonah Audubon Society’s October general meeting will be “The Spread of Invasive Plants: How Landscaping Can Contribute to the Problem.” The meeting will be held on Thursday, October 23, at the South Britain Congregational Church meeting house, on the corner of Route 172 and East Flat Hill Road. Social time, with refreshments, will begin at 7:30 pm, followed by the meeting and program at 8.

The speaker will be Kathleen Nelson, who operates a nursery that specializes in herbaceous perennials, and has taught classes on environmentally responsible gardening. She will discuss the major types of invasive plants and describe the landscaping practices that favor their spread.

The meeting is open to the public and there is no charge. Call 264-4124 for additional information. Lillinonah Audubon Society is a chapter of National Audubon Society.
