Edward W. Barnum

Edward W. Barnum, 84, of Polaras Drive, New Milford, devoted husband of Florence (Garavel) Barnum, died October 12 at his home.

He was born in Bridgeport on October 20, 1918, son of the late Edwin and Bertha (Horton) Barnum.

Besides his wife, he will be sadly missed by two sons, John D. Barnum and his wife, Wendy, of Newtown, Richard E. Barnum and his wife, Sarah, of Augusta, Maine; five daughters, Joan M. Lamporte of Watertown, Judith A. Warwick of Marlboro, N.Y., Nancy L. Madore and her husband, Robert, of Danbury, Linda J. Zank and her husband, Richard, of New Fairfield, and Carol S. Repp and her husband, Michael, of Olathe, Kan. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Robert Barnum and his wife, Helen, of Fairfield.

Mr Barnum was a Veteran of World War II, serving with the US Navy. He made his home in the community for 34 years. He worked as a security guard for Amphenol, for ten years, and prior to that at Mekens Cleaners in Danbury.

Mr Barnum enjoyed spending time with his cherished wife of 63 years, and his seven children. He loved working in his yard and the outdoors.

Funeral services will be private. There are no calling hours.

The Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, is in charge of arrangements.
