Good News Caféâs Autumn Festival
WOODBURY â Carole Peckâs Good News Café will hold its Third Annual Autumn Fest and Charity Evening on Friday, October 24, to benefit Woodbury Community Services Council.
Participants in the Autumn Fest and Charity Evening will enjoy an extensive buffet of hot and cold foods specially prepared for the occasion, featuring chef-owner Carole Peckâs innovative culinary creations with special emphasis on use of locally grown and raised farm products. Dinner will be accompanied by a selection of fine harvest beers and wines, and topped off with an array of tempting desserts prepared by pastry chef Becky Vermilyea.
Entertainment will feature music for dancing under the stars on the restaurantâs tented outdoor patio.
The event is planned as a âcommunity celebration,â with Ms Peck inviting guests to join in giving back to the community that has been so generous in its support for the Good News Cafe. Woodbury Community Services Council, which depends on the compassion and giving of the community, offers material comfort, financial assistance and personal support to local individuals and families in their time of need.
Proceeds from last yearâs dinner enabled Good News Café to present a donation of more than $4,000 to the council. Ms Peck expressed confidence that the restaurantâs loyal patrons will help to set a new fundraising record at this yearâs event.
Participants in the benefit pay a fixed price of $65 per person, which covers all costs for dinner, beverages and entertainment for the evening. Cash and personal checks are preferred for this special event, though major credit cards will also be accepted.
Reservations are required and can be made at the restaurant or by telephone at 203-266-4663. Seatings are available beginning at 5:30 pm. Carole Peckâs Good News Café is at 694 Main Street South, Woodbury, near the intersection of US Route 6 and Connecticut Route 64 and approximately 3½ miles north of Exit 15 off Interstate 84.
