Lost Control

Maryann Rabuse, 22, of New Fairfield was charged with driving too fast for conditions after she lost control of her vehicle on Jeremiah Road at 7:46 pm on October 12. The 1991 Pontiac Grand Am failed to negotiate a curve near Stone Gate Lane, crossed into the westbound lane then back to the eastbound, slid off the shoulder and spun around 180 degrees. No injuries were reported. The car was towed.

Three-Car Mishap

Police said three vehicles were involved in a minor accident on eastbound Church Hill Road on October 4 at 1:40 pm when a 1997 Honda Civic driven by Kristin Halili, 38, of Glen Road, Sandy Hook, stopped to make a left turn into a parking lot. A 2000 Buick driven by Daniel J. Healy Jr, 44, of Syracuse, N.Y., stopped behind her. A 2001 Dodge Caravan driven by Stephen R. Gogliettino, 36, of Riverside Road was unable to stop, colliding with the Buick, which then collided with the Civic. There was minor damage to all three vehicles. Gogliettino received a written warning for following too closely.

Off Boggs Hill

Jaclyn M. Curran, 17, of Sugar Street, was driving on Boggs Hill Road at 11:35 pm on October 12 when she failed to negotiate a left curve in the road, according to police. Her vehicle went off the roadway on the southbound shoulder and hit a tree. She was not injured. Police gave her a written warning for making a restricted turn.

Hit A Rock

Police said Chantal N. Thompson, 16, of Sugar Hill Road, was driving on Key Rock Road at 9:43 pm on October 12 when she failed to negotiate a left turn on the wet road surface, went off the road on and hit a large rock. She was not injured. Police gave her a written warning for making a restricted turn.

Failure To Appear

Sean D. Sellars, 32, of Staunton, Va., was turned over to Newtown police by Bethel police on October 12 at 2:30 pm as a result of an outstanding arrest warrant. Sellars, who formerly lived in Newtown, had been arrested in 1995 on charges of driving under the influence and making an unsafe movement with his vehicle but had failed to appear in court. A rearrest warrant was issued by Danbury Superior Court. Following his arrest on October 12, he was held on a $1,000 court-set bond for appearance in court on October 14.

Stolen Mailbox

Police said a Valleyfield North Road resident reported that his black metal mailbox was stolen sometime between October 11 and October 12. Anyone with information should call the police at 426-5841.

Burglary

A Morris Road resident told police that sometime on October 10 someone entered her house and stole three jewelry boxes and several pieces of jewelry. No other items were taken. Anyone with information should contact the Newtown police.

Fender Bender

Police said a 2002 Nissan Sentra driven by a Sandy Hook resident was driving westbound on Riverside Road when a 1987 Toyota pickup driven by Christopher J. Dennis, 33, of Waterbury turned onto Riverside from Cherry Street and struck the Nissan. The Nissan was driven by Crystal Davila, 20, of Forest Drive. There was minor damage to both vehicles. Dennis was given a written warning for failure to grant the right-of-way at a stop sign.
