Remembering The

Pound Dogs

To the Editor:

The Newtown Pound Dogs and Canine Advocates of Newtown are once again saying thank you. This time it is to all the families who attended the St Rose Blessing of the Animals with their pets and who donated to all the pound dogs who are still waiting for a family of their own. Once again, St Rose has shown its concern for all creatures great and small with a beautiful but simple ceremony.

The animals seemed to know why they were there. They were polite, attentive, and enjoyed the singing and musical accompaniment, especially during the parade of animals. Father John blessed each one with a generous sprinkling of holy water as they paraded past him and then each received a medal of St Francis, the Patron Saint of Animals.

Many of these loving families remembered the less fortunate pound dogs and gave donations to help Canine Advocates to help them. The day was a fitting tribute to St Francis and his love of animals.

Thank you, St Rose families.

Sincerely,

Virginia Jess - President
