Francis Fagan

Active In Bridgeport Political And Civic Organizations

Francis Fagan, 89, of Bridgeport, husband of the late Helen Sabatino Fagan, died October 16 in the Cambridge Manor, Fairfield.

A son, Michael Fagan, and his wife, Melody, of Sandy Hook; a sister, Ruth Dempkowski of Bridgeport; two granddaughters, Kelly Fagan of New York City and Carolyn Fagan of Sandy Hook; a cousin, Evelyn Flynn; and several nieces and nephews, survive him.

Mr Fagan, a retired City of Bridgeport employee and former Parks and Recreation superintendent, was born in Bridgeport and was a lifelong resident. He was a World War II Army veteran, a member of the Bridgeport Elks Club, and the Bridgeport Old Timers Association. He was a former Bridgeport Police commissioner, a former manager of Wonderland of Ice, and was active in several other political and civic organizations in Bridgeport.

Friends are invited to call on Friday, October 19, from 4 to 8 pm, in the Larson Funeral Home, 2496 North Avenue, Bridgeport. Burial services will be private in St Michael’s Cemetery, Stratford.

Memorial donations may be made to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute – Jimmy Fund, 10 Brookline Place, West 6th Floor, Brookline MA 02445-7226.
