Centennial Convocation At St Vincent’s College

BRIDGEPORT — St Vincent’s College will host its centennial convocation, “The Art and Science of Healthcare: Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow” on Thursday, October 27, at 3 pm, in the Hawley Conference Center of St Vincent’s.

The featured speakers will be nationally celebrated nursing educator, writer, and consultant Joyce J. Fitzpatrick; Elizabeth Brooks Ford, professor of nursing at Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, Ohio; and Michael V. Herman, MD, chairman, Department of Medicine, clinical vice president of medicine at St. Vincent’s.

After the addresses by Ms Fitzpatrick and Dr Herman, a panel will join them in discussing their ideas. Jeanne Novotny, dean and professor, School of Nursing, Fairfield University; Frances Rabinowitz, MD, associate commissioner, State Department of Education; and Frank Scifo, MD, medical director of the Medical Assisting Program of St Vincent’s College, will serve as panel members.

St Vincent’s College is wrapping up the observance of its 100th anniversary celebration. Founded in 1905 as the School of Nursing by the Daughters of Charity, St Vincent’s was chartered as a College in 1991 and has since offered majors in other allied health fields in addition to nursing. The college numbers more than 3,000 alumni and offers a growing number of degree and continuing education programs.
