Flanders Fundraising Auction Is Saturday Evening
WOODBURY â Items to be auctioned during this yearâs Flanders Nature Center & Land Trust Four Seasons Benefit Auction & Dinner will include gift certificates for getaway weekends and romantic dinners, one-of-a-kind clothing and jewelry, antiques and collectibles from local shops, garden ornaments and landscaping services, fine wines and family outings.
The event is Flandersâ biggest annual fundraiser, and will be held Saturday, October 22, at the Southbury Hilton. Tickets are $65, of which $25 is tax-deductible.
Flanders volunteers have been working with the local community since February to acquire items for the auction, according to Executive Director Arthur Milnor.
âTruly, there will be something for everyone,â said Mr Milnor. Â Parents will want to bid on an activity-filled day at Flanders for their kids. A variety of dinner parties have been donated by local chefs, and one of our annual favorites, the wine grab bag, includes some especially valuable wines this year. For the more adventurous, weâre even auctioning off a plane ride.â
Also featured at the auction will be some 25 works of art by prominent area artists. The artwork has been on exhibit at Good News Café in Woodbury.
The evening begins at 5:30 with a silent auction. Rather than a sit-down dinner, guests this year will be able to choose from a buffet and specialty food stations, and enjoy an open bar, from 6 to 7:30, while the silent auction is taking place. The live auction, featuring local antiques dealer and columnist Wayne Mattox as auctioneer, will commence at 8.
