To the Editor:

I am writing this letter to endorse Judit DeStefano for reelection to the Newtown Legislative Council.

A Newtown resident for over seven years, Judit advocates for our schools and works to preserve our small town appeal. She tackles challenges head-on and has helped to drive decisions within the Legislative Council that preserve what I treasure most about Newtown while being receptive to opportunities that can help grow our tax base. She embraces change that betters our community.

I value her commitment to our community. As a former teacher and with children in both Reed and the Middle School, Judit will always prioritize the needs and welfare of our students. She supports responsible decision-making that will deliver value for our tax dollars. As chair of the Municipal Operations committee, Judit does a great job leading the charge to scrutinize town expenditures. She puts forward responsible and lean budgets and refuses to support unsubstantiated reductions that will hurt the town in the long run.

Finally, Judit is always responsive. Whether it be safety concerns with our local roads or simply explaining decisions that have been made regarding school funding, Judit always makes herself available and takes action as necessary. I have no doubt that this will continue to be the case. I invite you to join me in supporting Judit DeStefano this upcoming election.
