Harvesting Fun At Head Oâ Meadow

Head Oâ Meadow Schoolâs annual Harvest Fair took place recently on a picturesque October day. This yearâs festivities included pumpkin decorating, popcorn and cotton candy vendors, an auction, and even an obstacle course and rock-climbing wall, courtesy of Cheshire-based D&A Amusements.
âItâs been my first year doing it,â said organizer Maura Fletcher, a Head Oâ Meadow parent. âItâs always a great fundraiser for the school. Weâve had a lot of parents and members of the community help us.â
Students had the opportunity to donate money or goods to theme-based craft baskets made by each classâs room parents, Ms Fletcher explained. The baskets, from a Halloween-themed bounty of spooky stickers and candy-corn to a flag-draped tribute to Americana, were auctioned.
Also on the premises was a Mister Softee ice cream truck. The vendor also provided Krispy Kreme donuts, Ms Fletcher said.
Pizza was served courtesy of My Place Restaurant. âWe were able to buy the pizzas at a discounted rate,â said Ms Fletcher.
Many parents and older children, including former Head Oâ Meadow students, volunteered their time at the event. One notable volunteer was First Selectman candidate Bill Sheluck, whose daughters attend Head Oâ Meadow.
âMy son loved the rock wall, which was new this year, especially,â said Head Oâ Meadow parent Meg Reilly. âMy whole family loves it!â
