Stop, Drop, And Learn

In marking National Fire Prevention week, Head O’ Meadow students in grades 1–3 were recently treated to a visit from five volunteer firefighters and their trucks from the Dodgingtown and Hawleyville fire companies.

Teachers and students both said they were grateful for the time these firefighters took off from their busy jobs to remind everyone about the importance of fire prevention and fire safety tips. Students were able to climb atop the trucks and examine extensive firefighter equipment, from massive pumps to heavy uniforms and hardhats.

Students also received a complimentary fire hat and coloring book depicting various scenes where fire safety is a concern.

The Head O’ Meadow administration also expressed its appreciation to Tony Cuomo and Kirk Blanchard of the Dodgingtown Volunteer Fire Company and William Brunetti, David Jossick, and Ray Fuller of the Hawley Volunteer Fire Company for their visit.
