Girls C/D
Stride 0, Stallions 0 â Sam Lockhart powered the middle of the field in the second half for the Stride while the goalkeeping skills of Lindsey Laub, Rebecca Reed and Erin Nemeth led to the shutout. For the Stallions, Rachel Cox earned the shutout in goal with strong efforts coming from midfielders Elanna Gilbert and Megan Keenan and forward June Repasi.
Boys C/D
Jaguars 5, Danbury 0 â Ryan Diluoffo scored twice for the Jaguars and Stephen Ashbolt, Evan Batzer and Steven Jaroszewski added one apiece to defeat. Brandon Mcguinn, Zachary Bryan and Brian Grimes anchored the strong defense.
Deranged Weasels 2, Pink Muffins 1 â Ben Spiegel and Spencer Scott scored on penalty kicks to lead the Weasels. Stephen Forgione and Peter Griffiths were strong in net. Henry Sims scored once for the Pink Muffins as Chris Kenney, Robert Kenney and Jack Mackay played well.
Boys E
The Nucleus 5, Blaze 1 â Greg Campbell scored two goals while Tommy Stewart, Jack Curry and Jake Tolson added one apiece to lead The Nucleus to the win. For the Blaze, Patrick Ricardi scored off an assist from Joey VanVeen. Nicholas Badiola and Walker Mansfield played well.
Vipers 1, Silverhawks 0 â Tom DiLuoffo scored the only goal to lead the Vipers. Alec Hooper, Chris McGowan and Reid Bigham all played great defense. For the Hawks, Ryan Barrett, Justin Kenney and Brandon Body had solid games.
Kings 3, Supersonics 0 â Nick Gerbo, Thomas Capozziello, and Christopher Erikson scored the goals to lead the Kings to the win. James Holcomb and Douglas Pierce both had strong all around games. For the âSonics, Clayton Makuch, Mike Carrafiello, Marcus Toms and Max Eckert had nice performances.
Girls E
Hawks 5, Cheetahs 0 â Kelsey Karp and Emma Iannini scored two goals apiece to lift the Hawks to the win. Jenny VanVeen scored and Lila Kohrman-Glaser had two assists. For the Cheetahs, Jenna Bonnacorso, Lauren Hutchinson, Kelly Brooks and Gabriella Mason all played well.
Dynamites 3, Team (#6) 0 â Alexandra Grant, Mara Scallon and Caroline Lawrence scored the goals to lead the Dynamites to the win. Jessica Gorski played well. For Team #6, Olivia Rowley and Cassie Fallon played well in goal while Rachael Gregoire and Justina Paproski played great offense.
Fireshooters 1, Lightning Feet 0 â Audra Sarna scored the lone goal to lead the âShooters to the win. Kyra Smith, Clare Donnelly, and Megan OâConnell played well. For the Feet, Randi Jackson, Erin Bell, Kaitlyn Connolly and Samantha Salvatore had fine performances.
Funky Monkeys 2, Nighthawks 0 â Amanda Kloth and Jaime Keating scored to lead the Monkeys to the win. Samantha Wray and Mikaela McGuire played well. For the âHawks. Alicia Canafiello, Emily Ashbolt, Daniella Genevose and Jen Smith had strong games.
Girls F
Cheetahs 2, Huskies 1 â Tressa Scott and Jillianna Ciammara scored goals to lead the Cheetahs to the win. Gabrielle DeBartolomeo and Kristen DeGirolamo were strong in goal. For the Huskies, Amy Martin scored as Meagan Harkins was great on offense. Sarah Craig and Aspen Kraushaar played solid defense.
Cheetah Champions 3, Thunder 0 â Julie LaPerch, Karlie Kuligowski and Abigail Kuligowski all scored goals to lead the Cheetahs. Aileen Sheluck added strong offense. Michelle Zarifis, Jenny Indelicato, Maria Biondi and Cassie Laurent played well for the Thunder.
Shockers 3, Wildcats 0 â Nina Pedalino, Bridget Powers and Taylor Brady each scored a goal to lead a balanced offensive attack. Emily Papp played solid D. For the Wildcats, Alexa Powell and Emily Davis played well in the field as Allie Brazo and Julia Diluoffo played well in goal.
Tornadoes 2, Nighthawks 1 â Kerry Scallon scored two goals to lead the Thunder. Jenna Hines was solid on defense and Maggie Kost strong on offense. For the âHawks, Sally Martinelli scored the lone goal. Trisha Sullivan played well all around and Haley Cobb did a great job as goalie.
Killer Bees 3, Shooting Stars 0 â Lindsay Jossick, Lauren Sarna and Elisa Navarro scored one goal apiece to lead the Bees to the win. Lindsey Jagoe and Libby DiDomizio had fine performances. For the Stars, Brittany Heck, Claire Alexander, Casey Flynn, Sarah Read and Maddy Good had great efforts.
Girls U10
Powers 1, Danbury 0 â Meghan Carney scored the lone goal off assists from Allie Korchman and Nora Murphy to lead the Power. Virginia Trombini and Allie Fuentes played strong in the midfield as Christina Naldini and Leaha Barrett anchored the defense.
Boys U11
Strikers 5, Torrington 0 â Kai Ashick scored two goals while Eric Thornberg, Kyle Moore and Daniel Hufziger scored one apiece to lead the Strikers. Tony Vacaro and Daniel Lynch were strong on D.
Boys U12
Newtown 10, Woodbury 0 â Daniel Greenwood scored three goals while Casey Tenney and George Zaruba each scored twice to lead Newtown. Kyle Kromberg, Xjulio Halili and Danny Clement scored once. Danny Clement and Eric Keogler each played a scoreless half as keeper for Newtown.
Girls U12
Rampage 5, Monroe 0 (State Cup) â Kristen Tanner scored two goals and Laetitia de Brantes, Monica Warek and Susan Mason added one each to lead the Rampage into the quarterfinals of the State Cup. Laura Bittman (2), Taylor Smith, Kate Bowen and Susan Mason provided the assists. Jordyn Good and goalie Katie Pessin played well.
Rampage 5, Western United 0 â Kate Bowen netted a hat trick to lead the Rampage. Laura Bittman had a goal and two assists while Monica Warek scored a goal. Kristen Tanner, Laetitia de Brantes and Taylor Smith also registered assists for the Rampage. Katie Pessin had 4 saves for Newtown to preserve the shut out win while Berenice Bryant and Ally Modzelewski anchored the denying defensive squad.
Rampage 5, Woodbury 0 â Laura Bittman, Susan Mason, Taylor Smith, Jordyn Good and Kate Bowen all scored goals for Newtown. Midfielders Caleigh Boyle, Bittman, Monica Warek and Taylor Smith had assists. Midfielders Sara Kelley, Hannah Basch-Gould and Kirsten Hudock supplied the offensive pressure to spark the Newtown attack.
Girls U13
Westport 2, Hurricanes 1 (OT) â After 70 minutes of regulation play and 20 minutes of overtime, the score was tied at 1-1. Westport won in the shootout. Emily Kluga was strong in goal and Colleen Thornberg and Jen Brewer played solid defense. Kasey Schulz, Sarah Shannon and Katie Serock led the offense effort as Shulz scored the lone goal.
Boys U14
Nightmare 3, Danbury 0 â Goaltender Steve Musco in goal earned the shutout with the aid of Joe Cappiello, Ethan Carotti, Ryan Golankiewicz, Chris Parker, and Nick Rosa. Neris Halili scored two goals and Matthew Wright added one.
Columbus Day Tournament
Over two days of rainy, muddy matches, the Nightmare dispatched Ridgefield (3-1), Fairfield (2-1), WAM (6-0), and Columbia-Windham (1-0), before being edged out in the championship match by Glastonbury (2-1) in the Columbia-Windham Columbus Day Tournament.
Nerris Halili (7-2-9), Matt Wright (4-3-7), Chuck Brooks (1-1-2), Alex Bowen (1-1-2), Ryan Hudock (0-1-1) and Ryan Goodridge (0-1-1) provided the offense. Mickey Fay and Steve Musco â supported by the defensive efforts of Joe Cappiello, Ethan Carotti, Ryan Golankiewicz, Chris Parker, and Nick Rosa â allowed only four goals.
