A Joy To Participate

To the Editor:

I lost my left leg to the hip in a motor vehicle accident in 2004, and sustained other injuries such as the severe fracturing of my pelvis and the crushing of my right foot. Prior to my accident, I was very active, as I was a professional tree-climber and enjoyed other activities such as bicycling. After my accident I could not imagine ever being able to enjoy physical activities again, until I discovered organizations such as Leaps of Faith.

It is a joy to be able to participate again in an exhilarating, outdoor, fresh-air, heart-pumping sport such as water skiing. Now I find that I not only water ski myself, but I enjoy helping out the kids, by swimming out to them to help them back onto the dock after their turn behind the boat. We have met many people who have come to Leaps of Faith from as far away as New Jersey and New Hampshire, because visionary people like Joel Zeisler and organizations like Leaps of Faith are few and far between — and that is why it is so important to keep the momentum that Joel has initiated. Driving home to Massachusetts exhausted from a day at Lake Zoar is one of the best feelings I have these days!

I hope that your readers will agree that Leaps of Faith should not have to pay fees that are not levied on others, and should be able to continue offering this life-affirming experience to so many people who might not otherwise have such an opportunity.

Sincerely,

Alban Horcholle
