Police report that they stopped motorist Jason Perrotta, 38, of Stratford about 11 am October 16 for traveling 54 miles per hour in a posted 30-mph zone on Wasserman Way.
After investigating, police charged Perrotta with traveling too fast for conditions and with driving while under suspension.
After he posted $250 bail, police released Perrotta for an October 24 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.
CDs Found
On October 15, a person found a black leather case containing 62 compact discs on the section of Philo Curtis Road nearer to its intersection with Pole Bridge Road in Sandy Hook, police report. Philo Curtis Road links Pole Bridge Road to Riverside Road.
Police are holding the CDs for safekeeping. Police ask the owner to contact them at the police station at 3 Main Street, telephone 426-5841, to claim the CDs.
Items Recovered
On the morning of October 18, after receiving a call, police went to the vicinity of 8 Huntingtown Road and found several pieces of power equipment that appear to have been stolen and then discarded.
The items were found near the Huntingtown Road bridge, which crosses above a tributary of the Pootatuck River.
Found were a leaf blower, a power washer, and an air compressor. Police ask anyone with information on the matter to contact them at the police station at 3 Main Street, telephone 426-5841.
Bicycle in Woods
On the afternoon of October 14, an abandoned bicycle was found in a wooded area near the intersection of Wasserman Way and Oakview Road. The owner may claim it the police station at 3 Main Street, telephone 426-5841.
Church Hill Road
Police said that they stopped motorist Andrew Bolmer, 20, of 31 Swamp Road on Church Hill Road about 8:12 pm October 18 to investigate.
Police said they charged Bolmer with a headlamp violation and with driving while under suspension.
Police released Bolmer on written promise to appear in court on November 4.
Intersection Crash
Police report a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of The Boulevard Extension and Hanover Road about 1:08 pm October 19.
Motorist Darren Joseph, 17, of Danbury, who was driving a 1993 Toyota Camry, was traveling southward on Hanover Road and was attempting to drive straight through the intersection to The Boulevard Extension, police said.
At that time, motorist Patricia King, 46, of Redding, who was driving a 2005 Acura MDX northward on The Boulevard Extension, attempted to make a left turn onto Hanover Road, police said.
The two vehicles collided.
The drivers did not receive medical treatment at the scene, police said. Hook & Ladder firefighters responded to the accident. Police issued King a written warning for failure to grant the right of way.
DUI Arrest
State police report that they used a laser-based device to measure the speed of motorist Timothy Camarota, 29, of Shelton on Interstate 84 at about 1 am October 19.
State police said they followed Camarota off I-84 to Route 34 where they stopped him to investigate, after which they gave him field sobriety tests. State police said they charged Camarota with driving under the influence and with speeding.
He was released on $500 bail for an October 27 court appearance.
Highway DUI
State police said they stopped motorist Jennifer Laurer, 38, of Bristol for a motor vehicle violation on westbound Interstate 84, east of Exit 11, about 12:25 am October 17.
After investigating, state police charged her with driving under the influence and with failure to drive in the proper lane.
No information on Laurerâs bail or court appearance was available.
Sideswiped
State police report that driver Melvin McCarley, 78, of Danbury was driving a 1999 Ford E-350 passenger-style van without any passengers eastward on Interstate 84, west of Exit 10, about 6:18 am October 17, when the van was sideswiped by an unknown vehicle, damaging the vanâs left side.
The unknown vehicle could not be located, state police said. There were no injuries. The van is used by Almost Home Adult Day Care of Danbury, state police said.
Five Charges
About 7:16 am October 18, while monitoring traffic flow on South Main Street, police noticed that motorist Adam Hayden, 24, of Monroe was driving a Volkswagen which had a defective tail lamp, so they stopped him to investigate.
Police charged Hayden with failure to have a functioning tail lamp, driving with a suspended license, failure to return a suspended license to the state Department of Motor Vehicles, driving without automotive insurance, and driving an unregistered vehicle.
After he posted $100 bail, police released Hayden for a June 30 court appearance.
Larceny Warrant
Police said that while they were at a Newtown High School football game at the schoolâs sports stadium at about 8:20 pm October 17, they spotted a 16-year-old boy for whom they held an arrest warrant.
Police then charged the youth with sixth-degree larceny in connection with an incident that occurred on September 18.
Following arrest processing, police released the boy on written promise to appear on November 7 in Danbury Juvenile Offender Court. State law shields the identities of people under age 18 who are charged with crimes.
Warrant
After learning that police held a warrant for his arrest, Peter P. Bliss, 27, of Bethel, went to the police station on the night of October 20 and was charged.
Police said they charged Bliss with second-degree failure to appear in court, first-degree criminal trespassing, and disorderly conduct. Police said they received the warrant because Bliss had failed to make a scheduled court appearance.
The original charges stem from an April 2007 incident on Boggs Hill Road.
Police released Bliss on $500 bail for a November 4 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.
