October 24 Horse Meds Lecture

Post University’s Equine Resources Committee will host a lecture with David Gaudio, R.Ph. of RX Specialties of Cheshire on Friday, October 24, at 7:15 pm in the Drubner Center, Room 201 at Post University.

If you own a horse or another pet who takes medication, you know how expensive it can be. Gaudio will discuss the value of compounding prescriptions as a cost- and time-saving tool. Compounding medications have become a powerful and widely utilized resource for veterinarians and pet owners all over the country.

Prescription Specialties, rxspecialties.com opened in 1992. One of the first compounding-only pharmacies in the US, it has evolved into a mainly veterinary practice, serving the needs of equine, small animals and exotic animals around the country.

Cost for the lecture is $10. All proceeds benefit the equine scholarships at Post University. For information and directions, call 203-596-4631 or email CBaker@post.edu.

October 26 Frost on the Pumpkin Hunter Pace

The Newtown Bridle Lands Association invites riders and spectators to enjoy a fun day of cross country riding in Newtown’s equestrian community (costumed spectators add to the fun) at the 30th Annual Frost On The Pumpkin Hunter Pace, Sunday, October 26 at Mount Nebo Road. Enjoy a catered lunch served from 11 am to 2 pm. Prizes will be given for the Best Costumed Team. For non-riders, friends and family members, lunch tickets may be pre-purchased (or take a chance and buy a lunch ticket at the day of the pace). For more details visit nblact.com or call Terry at 203-791-4853.

November 21 Equestrian Olympics

Post University’s Equine Resources Committee is holding an Olympic Evening on Friday, November 21 at 7:15 pm. Attendees will watch equestrian events at the Olympic Games from Hong Kong from earlier this summer.

AP reporter Margaret Freeman, who has reported on equestrian events at six Olympics, will commentate. Attendees will get an up close and personal report on what happened, what the riders thought, how the competitions panned out and the aftershocks. Freeman is also an ‘S’ level dressage judge, clinician and expert speaker.

There were some great performances and, certainly, some controversy in the evening competition. Old and new friends may be seen in the dressage events under a new format, and exciting show jumping will also be seen. The US did well – winning a Gold Medal in the team jumping.

This event will be on the lower campus in the Drubner Center, Room 201 (on the second floor at the top of the stairs). This building is on Route 63, (exit 17 off I-84). Tickets are available for $15 at the door (tickets for Post students are free).

Proceeds benefit equine scholarships and the equine program at Post University. For information, call 203-596-4631 or email CBaker@post.edu.
