I’m sure you recognize the expression “Don’t cut off your nose to spite your face.” I think of this phrase when I talk to people who are planning to vote for Obama for President. Many are voting for him not because they back his position on the issues, but rather they say it’s “because the Republicans had their chance and they blew it.”

No doubt there is a desire for change in Washington, but what kind of change and at what cost? If elected, Barack Obama will be the most liberal president this country has ever had. He has unabashedly socialist views and will put forward a socialist agenda. We are not socialists; we are freedom loving independent Americans.

Please think beyond yourselves and the here and now and think of your children and grandchildren. Do you want them to have the choices you have enjoyed? Do you want them to be able to attend the schools of their choosing? Do you want the government to choose what size house you should buy or what doctor you should see? We risk losing the ability to make these choices and many more if Obama’s agenda is carried out.

Obama and the liberal Congress will appoint judges to all levels of the judiciary that will legislate from the bench so you can forget about a representative form of government. This is evident in the recent decision to recognize same-sex marriage by the Connecticut Supreme Court. A decision made without affording the people of this state the right to have our voices heard.

It is our God-given right to choose our own destinies, to strive for a better future for ourselves and our children and it is these principles that this country was founded on. Take the time to educate yourself and to understand what Obama really stands for. Please do not be caught up in the moment, stop and reflect on what is the best choice for you, your families and the future of our country. Please make the right choice and vote for John McCain.
