To the Editor:
Having had the chance to work with Will Rodgers on the Legislative Council, and with both my wife and I having come to know him well over the years, Iâm certain he is the right choice to represent Newtown in the legislature. Will clearly understands the impact of taxes and the high cost of government on residents on fixed incomes, particularly senior citizens.
People of my generation have paid many thousands of dollars in taxes to our state government and unless the breaks are put on spending, we will not be able to retire here. Itâs also crucial that important programs like ConnPACE and other state senior programs remain in place, so that we can continue to be able to make ends meet. Willâs service on the ad hoc Elder Tax Relief Committee and his subsequent introduction of a Elderly Tax Relief ordinance convinces me that he is dedicated to being one of our most dependable advocates regarding these topics.
We donât need another legislator in Hartford who spills out a long list of talking points but really doesnât have a grasp of what he is speaking about. Anyone who has taken a moment to speak with Will Rodgers can concur that he has a tremendous working knowledge of issues before state government and is ready to take on this job for Newtown.
Sincerely,
John Aurelia
