To the Editor:

I would like to add my voice to those endorsing Lillian Bittman for Newtown Board of Education. I have known Lillian since she moved to Newtown in 1995. I have never met anyone as interested in education and dedicated to making it work well.

All three of my daughters benefited from her work as a volunteer in the schools sponsoring the student newspapers. Not only did she make participating on the paper fun, but a genuine learning experience as well.  My oldest daughter, who is now a journalism major at NYU, got her start in news writing on the Footprint Post at Sandy Hook School under Lillian’s leadership. Lillian was her first editor.

Lillian has demonstrated great dedication and skill as a promoter of education. She also has the wisdom to help the Board of Education make some of the tough choices necessary to produce a great education for the town’s children on a budget that we all can afford.
