Marcus Tracy’s Number Retired By Nighthawks

Former Newtown High School soccer standout Marcus Tracy had his number retired at the boys’ soccer game against Kolbe Cathedral at Treadwell Park’s Tilson Field on October 25. NHS Coach Brian Neumeyer presented Tracy with a framed uniform during the halftime ceremony.

Tracy was a four-year varsity starter and was named an All-American and Connecticut State Player of the Year in his senior year. He was the captain of the 2004 Class LL state championship team which finished ranked 15th in the country, according to the final NSCAA poll.

Tracy graduated from Wake Forest University where he was named the offensive MVP in the 2007 College Cup in Wake Forest’s National Championship run. In 2008, he lead the Demon Decons to another Final Four and he won the Hermann Trophy, as the nation’s most outstanding college player.

The former Nighthawk made his debut with Danish club Aalborg on March 19, 2009. Four days later, he scored the winning goal in his first game.
