Letters Of Endorsement

To the Editor:

As Election Day quickly approaches, we must all realize the importance of our vote. We are once again being given the opportunity to help shape the destiny of our fine community, and I call upon all of you to take the time next Tuesday to cast your vote.

As for myself, I have given much thought and consideration to my choices, from voting for members to serve on the Legislative Council to voting for our next first selectman. The choice for first selectman, although difficult, is quite clear in my mind, Herb Rosenthal. From his many years on the Board of Education to his tenure as first selectman, Herb has served our community well. He has had to make many difficult decisions, and over the years these decisions have been based solely on how they will benefit our town. Herb has continually showed his support for maintaining the quality of life that we enjoy in Newtown, and fought to maintain the Excellence in Education which our school system offers. So on November 4, cast your vote for Herb Rosenthal for first selectman.

At the same time, I urge all of you who live in the new District 2, to support Joe Hemmingway as one of our representatives on the Legislative Council. Joe has been a staunch supporter of quality education, whether serving on the PTA, helping to build a playground, painting the middle school, or most recently serving on the Legislative Council for the past two years. A vote for Joe Hemmingway is a vote for continued quality in education.
