SOUTHBURY â The Love and Knishes Senior Lunch Program of the Federation-Jewish Communities of Western Connecticut will be meeting on three Tuesdays in November.
All programs are open to the public, and the suggested donation is $5.50 for seniors and $8 for those under age 60. The luncheons take place at the Walzer Family Jewish Community Campus, 444 Main Street North.
On November 11, a lecture on âEating Well With Diabetesâ takes place at 10:30 am with Tamzin Marchese, a registered dietician at Waterbury Hospital. Following her talk, a delicious healthful luncheon will be served at 11:30 am.
On November 18, lunch is at noon. Singer Larry Batter will entertain at 1 pm with music, jokes and stories.
On November 25, lunch is at noon. At 1 pm there will be a special program entitled âWho By Fire.â Chaya Malka Abramson, formerly of Waterbury and now a citizen of Israel was critically injured in a gas explosion and fire in the Old City in December 1981. For weeks she hovered between life and death. She attributes her miraculous recovery to faith and prayers. The author and mother of ten will be making a special appearance that day to tell her story.
