Marvin Louis Gelb

Marvin Louis Gelb, USNR-R, 66, a 34-year resident of Monroe, died October 26 in his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Mr Gelb is survived by his loving wife of 44½ years, Sharon Craft Gelb of Monroe; his devoted children, Kelly and Donald Fitch of Monroe, Gary and Janet Gelb of Newbury Park, Calif.; Jody and Jeffrey Price of Sandy Hook, Lance and Susan Gelb of Charlton, Mass.; his cherished brothers, Robert Allen Gelb of Bridgeport, Herman Richard Gelb and his wife, Fern, of Stratford; his adoring grandchildren, Kayla, Kasey, Albert, and Kira Fitch, Blair Gelb, Shane and Stephen Price, Jacquelyn, Jake, and Joshua Gelb; and by many nieces and nephews.

Mr Gelb was born in Bridgeport, a son of the late Max Stanley and Florence (Sena) Gelb, and was a plumber and plumbing contractor for the past 52 years. He was retired from the US Navy Reserves, as an E7 chief petty officer. Mr Gelb was an American Kennel Club judge for eight years, and he bred and showed dogs for 33 years. He lived by his belief, “Always fight for what you believe is right.”

Services were held October 29 from the Abraham L. Green and Son Funeral Home, 88 Beach Road, Fairfield, with interment following at Maple Grove Cemetery in Easton with Military Honors. Memorial contributions may be made to Swim Across The Sound or to Connecticut Hospice.
