Police Seek Owners For Found Items

The police station is the local repository for found items, which are held there for safekeeping to allow owners claim the items.

The inventory currently contains about 20 found items, which police are seeking to place with their owners. Police received the items since last May.

Items that were turned over to the police in October include a Canon Elph camera found on Main Street and a weed trimmer found on Tunnel Road.

In September, police received a gold-colored bracelet found at the Ice Cream Shop on Church Hill Road and a troll lawn ornament found in the Taunton area.

In August, police received a bayonet and an ice scraper that were found on Wedgewood Court, a pair of eyeglasses and an eyeglass case found on Osborne Hill Road, a Chrysler car key found in the gazebo at The Pleasance at 1 Main Street, and a pair of women’s sunglasses found in the police station parking lot.

Last June, police received many found items. They are an audio equalizer found on Edgewood Drive, a cordless telephone located in the police station’s rear parking lot, two tents found on Taunton Lake Road, a pair of sunglasses found at Treadwell Park, a woman’s watch located at the Ice Cream Shop on Church Hill Road, and a lighting fixture found near the intersection of Newbury Road and Pheasant Ridge Road.

In May, police received a tool box that was found on Poorhouse Road, and a bracelet that was located at the Big Y supermarket on Queen Street.

Police Sergeant Darlene Froehlich supervises the police’s found goods inventory. Persons who lost the described items may contact her at the police station at 3 Main Street, telephone 426-5841.
