To the Editor:
Newtown citizens have a great opportunity to vote for a highly capable person who is in no oneâs pocket and deeply desires to serve on the Board of Education. George Caracciolo wants this job. He sought the nomination and he will work hard for us.
This is a person who is an intriguing thinker (MENSA, no less). He questions things ââ perhaps because heâs a retired New York City police lieutenant. He has very creative ideas and suggestions. Most importantly, he has the expertise. George was a leading member of the Uniondale, N.Y., school board for five years.
Education and kids are his focus. George and his wife Judy have two grandchildren in Newtown schools. He cares about our educational system. He wants our schools to be the best and at a cost that is reasonable for Newtown citizens. He also is committed to the concept that the Board of Education is a policy-making body ââ responsible to Newtown residents, not the superintendent.
If you believe a good education is a product of excellent school board leadership and not solely dependent on how much money we spend, vote for George Caracciolo.
Sincerely,
Don Sharpe
