A Rewarding Experience
A Rewarding Experience
To the Editor:
I want to express my support for the volunteer effort to enable disabled individuals to water ski on Lake Zoar. I appreciate the assistance, in the past, that the Lake Zoar Authority has provided by keeping the boat traffic off the disabled water skiers and volunteers during these events. This is very important to the program. We, the volunteers, get the individuals out in the river, on a ski and are hopefully able to let them go on their own. We ski beside them for support, and stability if needed. They fall frequently, which is part of the âfunâ and learning experience. As you can imagine, itâs tricky to get them back in the âsit skiâ while floating in the water. It is a great benefit not having to fight the other boat wakes, and worry about boat traffic.
This is a very rewarding experience for all that participate, especially the numerous volunteers. Iâm proud to be able to volunteer my help to the Leaps of Faith Disabled Water Skiers Club, and I believe Newtown is very fortunate to have individuals that give back to the community with their time and expertise (and $$âs) to support and operate this experience. The personnel that help with this program make this benefit available to those that need it. The Lake Zoar Authority and the communityâs assistance in helping this operation continue as efficiently as possible are greatly appreciated. Make no mistake, we will continue to provide this service, if this support is not available; just a little help is always appreciated. Thanks for your attention to this issue.
Thanks for your time,
Steve Elmore
