U-14 Travel
Cobras 2, Fairfield 1 â The Cobras extended their perfect record in league play to five with an exciting come-from-behind victory. The offense was powered by Kieran Lardner who scored both goals. Stephen Conway crossed to Patrick Riccardi and Lardner netted the rebound for the first goal. Pieter Martino set up the second score. Ian Solaski, Tyler Ruefenacht and Richard Greenwood were strong on offense. Defensively, Alec Lockhart and Yossi Kohrman-Glaser had stellar performances.
U12 Travel
Trumbull 6, Newtown White Lightning 1 â The game was tied 1-1 at halftime but Trumbull pulled away with five unanswered goals. Jeremy Doski knocked in the only Newtown score off an assist from Kevin Droniak. Patrick Rowley, Michael Cook, Nathyn Horvath, Raymond Xue, Daniel Hamula and Carter Nordman played well in the midfield. Genti Limini and Michael Biancardi split time at striker. The defense was led by Will Swain, Knute Johnson, Sawyer Conrad and Ryan King. Peter Manfredonia had a great first half in goal with a handful of saves.
U 11 Travel
Newtown Strikers 3, Redding 0 â After a scoreless first half, the Newtown Strikers came out strong in the second half against Redding behind the scoring of Cole Rogalin (2 goals) and Jonathan Guilherme. Thomas Gavel, Ryan Kiss and John Carlson powered the offensive effort, while Robby Schreiber was outstanding at both ends of the field.
Newtown Strikers 5, Weston 4 â Newtown got two quick goals from Cole Rogalin and Jonathan Guilherme. Josh Houle added a third off of a corner kick from Rogalin. The Strikersâ forward line was led by Scott Martin and Alex Gerbo. The defense was powered by Michael OâKeefe and Liam McNichols.
U-14 Rec
The Oskars 3, The Thez 1 â Travis Hanna, Josh Harrison and Tommy Shaker scored one goal each to lead the Oskars to the win. Erik Von Schleusingen played a great overall game and Brandon Unger was solid in goal. Justin Germak scored the lone goal for The Thez. George Ferris was solid in goal and Otto Kurler and David Czortis played well.
U10 Rec
The Tigers 3, Flipping Fladoodles 0 â For the Tigers, Elliott Bennett scored one goal, Dylan Lew scored his first goal of the season and Tony Leonardi scored, giving him at least one goal in each game he has played this year. Dan McCarthy played well in goal and Christopher Anesi played well on defense. For the Fladoodles, Jake Anastasi played a strong all around game, Dawson Goodrich played a good game at midfield, Ryan Kost played great defense and was strong in goal and Conrad Reilly played well on offense.
U8 Rec
Firekickers 1, Hawks 1 â Colin Dunn led the offensive effort for the Firekickers, scoring the goal. Marc Carlson and Danny Arneth were also great on offense. Charlie Asetta was solid in goal, while Jack Buchler was great on defense. For the Hawks, John Albanesi scored a goal in the last minute to tie the game. Luke Fischer and Kyle Duval also did a great job in offense, while Joe Pagett and Declan Sughrue provided solid defense.
Blue Hurricanes 1, Newtown United 0 â For the Blue Hurricanes, Adam Farley scored the only goal of the game. Henry Petrillo and Vincent Delucia made several great saves while in goal for the Blue Hurricanes. Jack Armstrong and Miles Martiska played well on offense. Newtown United fought hard throughout the game but despite several good scoring chances couldnât find the back of the net. CJ Trivers made several good saves and also played well on offense in the defeat. Shea Talbot played aggressively on both sides of the field. Aidan Ford and Eli Delp were stalwarts on defense.
