*PULP magazine, a new music magazine out of New Haven, recently decided to cover DARIA MUSK and her group as the magazine’s first big feature article. The piece, according to a note from Daria last week, includes an interview with the Newtown based musician and a review of Daria Musk Trio’s recent show at The Space in Hamden. Writer Sarah Daniels wrote in part: “Daria Musk is one of the most brilliant new artists I’ve seen in quite some time. She’s sweet, quirky, and truly beautiful both inside and out. If there’s anyone to keep your eye on, it’s her.”

With that feather securely in her cap, Daria and friends will be opening for Grammy Award-winner MELISSA MANCHESTER next week at The Fairfield Theater Company. The show will be on Thursday, November 6, and tickets are selling well so you may want to call soon considering the theater only seats 200 people; call the FTC box office at 203-259-1036.

*MIDNIGHT RODEO will be all jacked up on Friday – yep, Halloween – at Dewey’s, 9 Franklin Street in Seymour. The party starts at 9, and costumes are most certainly encouraged.

The country band will be returning to 100 Church Hill next weekend, with a show on November 8 right in Sandy Hook.

The following night the band will partner with The Red Door in Watertown (675 Main Street) to turn the bar and restaurant into a saloon for its first ever Country Night. The band will also welcome Mike, “the best dang line dance leader around.”

That event will start with some free dance lessons with Mike at 6, and then the band is hoping to take the stage at 7, “playing all the best new country songs to try out those new moves on the dance floor.”

*Southbury resident PABLO ANDREU will make his Mocha Coffee House debut this weekend. The indie rock/folk/emo musician will be at the Glen Road location on Saturday night for an 8 pm show.

The weekend’s musical offerings will begin on Friday with a return by INFRASONIC (a/k/a Will Lindsay).

*MELISSA FAITH may not be playing too close to home these next few weeks, but the Newtown musician is certainly keeping busy. If you can find the time to follow her to Boston or New York, she has a few shows coming up that she’s pretty excited about, at least according to her latest note.

Melissa will be playing in The Chick Singer Night Boston at Johnny D’s in Davis Square next Thursday. The November 6 event starts at 8:30, and she is scheduled to go on roughly around 10.

There is a $10 cover, but as she points out, the evening is a fundraiser to benefit music in school programs, something Melissa feels very strongly about. Check out ChickSingerNight.com/CSNBoston for details about that show.

Then on Monday, November 10, Melissa will be in New York City playing at the Parkside Lounge, “the champagne of dive bars” at 317 East Houston (between Avenue B and C). Cover is $5.

And then on Saturday, November 15, she’ll be back in Boston playing at Kennedy’s Midtown, off the Park Street T, at 9:30. Cover for that one is $5 as well.

Until next week I’ll be seeing you... on the road.

Questions and comments should be sent to Shannon Hicks c/o The Newtown Bee, 5 Church Hill Road, Newtown CT 06470, or shannon@thebee.com, or call the office at 426-3141. Shows listed at clubs are for ages 21 and over unless specified.
