Support The Skateboarders

To the Editor:

The Donate To Skate Octoberfest Rally held last Saturday was a success financially, and our skaters had a blast! Thanks to all the volunteers who continually help with our fundraisers. To Chris and Karen Grosso, my husband, Chris, my sons, Thomas and Patrick and Daniel Brown, who went around town in the rain collecting ramps and rails the night before which took four hours. Then on the day of the rally they set all the ramps up and then returned all the equipment, using Chris Grosso’s truck and trailer and experience, in the rain. Thank you. Without your help the event wouldn’t have been possible.

Thanks to Andrea’s Bakery for the delicious array of baked goods. To Mark Tambascio for pizza from My Place, Super Stop & Shop, and Big Y for the apple cider and Dunkin’ Donuts for the coffee. To The Newtown Bee, NTV-channel 17, The News Times, Vertigo Skate Park, and all the businesses that allowed us to put up flyers, thanks for advertising the Skate Rally. To all the families that baked for the bake sale and the many volunteers, thanks for all your hard work. To everyone who contributed money for the Ayles Disney vacation. To Newtown Parks and Recreation, Amy, Deb, Rita, and Donna, for helping the skate campaign in many ways!

The Skate Rally tally was $1,111. Not bad for a six-hour event.

Thanks to our Donate To Skate Committee for the enormous amount of planning. We are happy to announce that Karen and Chris Grosso have joined our committee.

For all the information about our campaign who may want to get involved or to keep informed about upcoming events go to our website www.DonatetoSkate.com (donated by Kerry Ober). Thanks Kerry! FYI — The website also gives information on how to make a donation. The money is safely kept at Newtown Parks and Recreation Department in the Donate To Skate Gift Fund. Please make a donation toward our cause for our skateboarders to have a safe place to skate! What are you waiting for?

Our skateboarders’ safety is at stake! Do I have to spell it out for you? Please make a donation today!

Sincerely,

Lori Capozziello
