Supporting The Band
To the Editor:
On Saturday, October 18, the Newtown High School Band and Guard Parents Corporation hosted the 13th Annual Joseph P. Grasso Marching Band Invitational Field Show. Nine bands, including our own three-time First Place Newtown Nighthawks Marching Band and Guard, performed.
We would like to thank the invited dignitaries who participated in senior recognition and the Class Awards Ceremony; First Selectman Joe Borst, State Representative DebraLee Hovey, Superintendent of Newtown Schools Janet Robinson, Newtown High School Principal Chip Dumais, Assistant Principals Jason Hirou and John Tusch, and Director of Music Michelle Hiscavich.
A tremendous thank you to all the area businesses who took out program ads in sponsorship for our members. It is through their generous donations that our students can be enriched by participating in the musical arts programs at Newtown High School.
We would like to also thank our sponsors who donated items for our food concession at the Field Show: Jeff Hadgraft and Pepsi, Steve White and Pepperidge Farm, Chris from Botsford Drive-In, Stop & Shop, Big Y, and Caraluzziâs.
The Newtown Marching Nighthawks are currently undefeated MAC Class IV Champions and are made up of 68 musicians and 17 Color Guard from eighth through twelfth grade. With just one week left in the regular season, the group will perform their program âVirtruvian Manâ at Championships on Saturday, November 8, at Kennedy Stadium in Bridgeport.
Best of luck to you all!
Sincerely,
Graceann J. Hanulik
