To the Editor:

It seems that nearly every year, we hear about how this is “the most important election of our lifetime...” While, that may or may not be the case in 2008, the State of Connecticut is at a pivotal point.

Fiscal experts agree our state faces a projected $800 million deficit that the next Legislature will have to address. As a taxpayer in the most heavily taxed state in the nation, I believe it’s crucial we support candidates who have proven fiscal restraint because it will truly be needed to deal with this crisis.

As leader of Newtown’s Legislative Council for the past decade, Will Rodgers has proven time and again that he is the person to trust on such issues. Will has consistently only backed budget proposals that were fiscally responsible and would not overburden local taxpayers. His is the voice our town needs in Hartford in 2009!
