Hospital Program On Planning For Parenthood

DANBURY — Danbury Hospital will host a medical town meeting, “Sweet Expectations: The Journey to Parenthood,” on Tuesday, November 9, from 7 to 8:30 pm in the hospital’s John C. Creasy Center for Health Education auditorium.

Health experts from the hospital’s Family Birth Center will discuss the physical and emotional preparation for childbirth, from pre-conception planning to postpartum care.

Speakers will include Dee Campbell, coordinator of the hospital’s Programs for Parents and Breast-Feeding Support Program; Edward James, MD, chief of the neonatology section of the hospital’s department of pediatrics; Sandy McGuire, coordinator of the Doula Program in the hospital’s Family Birth Center; James Xenophon, MD, an obstetrician, gynecologist, and urogynecologist with Candlewood Obstetric-Gynecologic Associates, PC, and the hospital’s department of obstetrics and gynecology.

Ample time will be provided for audience questions. A grand prize drawing for a free doula (labor support person), a raffle for free doula packs, plus giveaways, educational materials, and light refreshments will also be provided.

Medical town meetings are co-sponsored by the hospital and the Danbury office of Physician Services, PC, and are free and open to the public. No registration is required.
