Nancy C. Peterson, 84, longtime resident of Newtown, died peacefully October 28 at Danbury Hospital, surrounded by her family. She was born in Staten Island, N.Y., a daughter of the late Constance (Raab) and Henry Carsten.The New York Times crossword puzzles. She was a friend of Bill's for 22 years.  Nancy was a caring mother, grandmother, and sponsor. www.aspca.org.www.cornellmemorial.com.

She graduated with her Bachelor of Science in education from Wagner College in Staten Island and became an elementary school teacher. She taught in several states, including New York, New Jersey, and Virginia. After her retirement from teaching, she worked for a financial brokerage house as an administrative assistant.

She prided herself in being one of the first and most loyal fans of the UConn women's basketball team; she loved her dogs; and her passion was

She is survived by her loving children and spouses Mark and Nadene Peterson of Newtown, Eric and Luisa Peterson of North Andover, Mass., and Carole Brodey of Wolcott; seven adoring grandchildren, Carly, Noah, and Nash Ericson, Natalie and Robert Peterson, and Jeffrey and Cally Peterson; a nephew, a niece, her caregiver, and many extended family and friends that will miss her dearly. Her sister, Eleanor Meyer; special friend, Allan McLean; and one niece predeceased Mrs Peterson.

The funeral service will take place at 11 am, Saturday, November 5, at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury. Interment will be in Mountain Grove Cemetery, Bridgeport. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 10 am until the time of the service.
