The North grabbed the lead back in the top of the seventh, only to see the West battle back. In the bottom of the frame, John Modzelewski led off with a hit, stole second, and scored on Chris Marsden’s single to right. Tom Ramsdell and Greg Williams worked out walks to load the bases and then Alpert drove in the game-winner with a liner to right.

NEWTOWN JUNIOR WEST 5, DANBURY JUNIOR NORTH 2: Ron Isler fired a three-hitter, walking four and striking out 12 batters to lead the Junior West team to a win over Danbury. Three of those strikeouts came in the bottom of the seventh.

Isler aided his own causes with a two-out double in the first. He later scored in a single by Joe Gantert. Tyler Hull also knocked in a run in the first on a single to right. Newtown scored again in the third inning. A single by Dan Jura, a walk to Greg Williams, and an infield hit by Isler loaded the bases. Jura stole home to give Newtown a 3-0 lead.
