Gizella Varga

Founding Member St Elizabeth Seton Church

Gizella Varga, 79, of Redding, previously of Ridgefield, died October 29 at Meadow Ridge. She was the wife of Tibor Varga. Mrs Varga was born in Budapest, Hungary, February 20, 1928, daughter of Karoly and Gizella Hoyer.

In addition to her husband, Tibor, of 60 years, she is survived by a son, Tibor Peter Varga and his wife, Joanne, of Newtown; a daughter, Gabriella Varga and her husband, William Henning, of Boalsburg, Penn.; two brothers, Karoly and Janos; and a sister, Victoria, all of Hungary; three grandchildren, Nicholas, Zachary, and Taylor; as well as several nieces and nephews.

She attended schools in Hungary and immigrated to the United States in 1956, first settling in Danbury. In 1963, Mr and Mrs Varga and family moved to Ridgefield and were founding members of St Elizabeth Seton Church. Mr and Mrs Varga have been residents at Meadow Ridge for the past three years. She enjoyed gardening.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St Elizabeth Seton Church, 520 Ridgebury Road, Ridgefield, at a time to be announced. There will be no calling hours.

 Kane Funeral Home, 25 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield, is in charge of arrangements.
