SUV Off Road

Motorist Dimitrios Petropoulos, 23, of Norwalk, who was driving a 2003 Toyota RAV-4 sport-utility vehicle eastward on Boggs Hill Road about 8:13 am October 25, was negotiating a curve in the road, but then began to slide on the pavement, police said.

The Toyota then went off the right side of the road and struck a stone wall, according to police. Petropoulos was not injured.

Police issued him an infraction ticket for making a restricted turn and for driving while under suspension.

Honda Vs Ford

Police report a two-vehicle collision on Berkshire Road, near its intersection with Toddy Hill Road, about 2:45 pm October 19.

Motorist Russell Williams, 69, of Bridgeport, who was driving a commercial 1996 Ford E-250 van, slowed for traffic, which was stopped on Berkshire Road, police said.

Motorist Yoon Dong, 37, of Ansonia, who was driving a 1999 Honda Accord, then struck the Ford from behind, police said. There were no injuries.

Police issued Dong a written warning for following too closely.

Sexual Assault

Police reported last week that they have arrested a boy under age 16 on a charge of fourth-degree sexual assault. The arrest followed an investigation that police made into a complaint which they received in late September.

The boy was scheduled to be arraigned on the charge on November 5 in Danbury Juvenile Court.

State law shields the identities of people under age 18 who are charged with crimes.

Moving Violations

Police report that at about 3 pm October 24, they stopped motorist Timothy Flaws, 28, of Shelton for driving too fast on Toddy Hill Road.

After he was stopped, police investigated and charged Flaws with traveling too fast and with driving with a suspended license.

Flaws posted $100 bail money and was then released from custody for a November 6 appearance at Danbury Superior Court.

Chevrolet Vs Chevrolet

About 3:30 pm October 25, motorist Anne Harwood, 23, of Shaker Heights, Ohio, who was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Impala, stopped at a red traffic signal at the end of Interstate 84’s Exit 11 off-ramp and was waiting to make a right turn onto Wasserman Way, police said.

Motorist Adrienne Nappi, 27, of Danbury, who was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt, then struck the Impala from behind, police said.

There were no injuries. Police issued Nappi a written warning for failure to keep a reasonable distance apart.

Mt Pleasant Crash

Police report a two-vehicle collision at Saw Mill Road’s western intersection with Mt Pleasant Road about 6:45 am October 29.

The accident caused travel delays in the area during the Monday morning rush period. The intersection has been the scene of many motor vehicle accidents.

Police said motorist Anjana Khurana, 61, of 3 Cobblestone Lane was driving a 2000 Honda Accord northward on Saw Mill Road, as motorist Joseph Thurston, 51, of Wolcott was driving a 1995 Ford pickup truck eastward on Mt Pleasant Road.

The Honda then pulled out from a stop sign there and attempted to make a left turn onto Mt Pleasant Road, but the Honda struck the Ford, causing the Ford to hit a curb, spin around and then roll onto its side, police said.

Hawleyville firefighters responded to the accident. The two damaged vehicles were towed away.

Ambulance volunteers treated Ms Khurana at the scene for neck and back pain, police said.

Ambulance staffers transported Mr Thurston to Danbury Hospital for treatment of injuries, police said. Mr Thurston was treated and released, a hospital spokeswoman said.

The accident is under investigation by Officer Todd Dingee.

I-84 DUI

State police report that they stopped motorist Leon Sheppard, 48, of Waterbury for speeding on eastbound Interstate 84, near Exit 10, about 12:06 am October 28.

Sheppard then failed sobriety tests, according to state police. State police charged him with driving under the influence and with speeding.

Sheppard was scheduled to appear in court for arraignment on the charges.

Asleep At The Wheel

State police report that at about 4 am October 27, motorist Jose Dos Santos, 27, of Danbury, who was driving a 2007 Toyota Corolla westward on I-84, west of Exit 10, fell asleep at the wheel and then crashed into a concrete barrier railing along the right road shoulder.

Dos Santos was not injured in the accident, state police said.

The motorist failed to drive in the proper lane, according to state police.

Kia Vs Deer

About 8:35 am October 28, motorist Jesse Barney, 41, of Bethel was driving a 2004 Kia van with three passengers eastward on Berkshire Road, when a deer ran out onto the road, resulting in a collision, police said.

Neither Barney, nor any of the passengers, were injured. Police took no enforcement.

Crash on Curve

Police report that at about 7:30 pm October 24, motorist Clifford Nichols, III, 35, of 14 Pilgrim Lane was driving a 1998 Ford Expedition northward near 24 Botsford Hill Road, when while rounding a curve, an unknown southbound vehicle entered the northbound lane and collided with the Ford, police said.

The offending vehicle, which was described as a white or silver-colored minivan, then drove away from the scene, police said. Nichols was not injured.

Court Appearance

Police report that about 7:15 am October 30, after learning that they held a warrant for his arrest, a Hartford man turned himself over to them at a bus station in Danbury and was arrested on the warrant.

 Police said they charged Jose Luis Rodriguez, 37, with second-degree failure to appear in court, public indecency, breach of peace, driving while under suspension, and misuse of marker plates. The original charges stem from a September 2006, incident at the Blue Colony Diner on Church Hill Road.

Police held Rodriguez on $10,000 bail for court arraignment on October 30.

Truck Hits Rock

About 9 am October 23, driver James Bain 43, of Redding, who was driving a 2006 Ford F-550 truck northward near 163 Brushy Hill Road, moved to the right to allow a larger truck with an unknown registration to pass him on the left, police said.

In moving to the right, the Ford’s right rear tire struck a rock along the edge of the road, damaging the truck’s tire and its rim, police said. Bain was not injured. Police took no enforcement.

Wasserman Way

About 3 pm October 27, motorist Rachel Sanchez, 41, of Beacon, N.Y., who was driving a 1999 Acura Integra coupe westward on Wasserman Way, while negotiating a curve in the road, lost control of the auto and slid off the road, striking some curbing and a tree, police said.

 Ambulance volunteers transported Sanchez to Danbury Hospital for treatment of chest and knee injuries, police said. Ms Sanchez was treated and released, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Passenger Angela Sanchez, age 6, of Beacon, NY, received a bruised palm in the accident, police said.

Rachel Sanchez received an infraction ticket for traveling too fast for conditions, according to police.

Damage Done

Sometime between 4 pm on October 26, and noon on October 29, someone entered the property at 10 Overlook Knoll Road And damaged a wood chipper which was parked in the driveway, police report. More than $250 worth of damage was done to the machine. Police ask anyone with information about who vandalized the device to contact them at 426-5841, or at 270-8888.

Nissan Vs Deer

About 6 am October 30, motorist Meta Intemann, 39, of Danbury was driving a 2004 Nissan Pathfinder westward near 24 Dodgingtown Road, when a deer ran onto the pavement and collided with the vehicle, police said. Intemann was not injured. Police took no enforcement.

DUI Charge

Police report that at about 7 pm October 29, motorist Mario Alberghini, 48, of 155 Boggs Hill Road was driving a Dodge Ram 2500 pickup truck near 91 Taunton Hill Road which then left the roadway and struck a tree.

In investigating the collision, police said they gave Alberghini sobriety tests.

Police said they charged Alberghini with driving under the influence and with failure to have automotive insurance. After he posted $100 bail, police released Alberghini for a November 13 court appearance.

South Main Street

While traveling southward near 153 South Main Street about 7 am October 24, motorist Richard Brady, 48, of 18 Bonnie Brae Drive, who was driving a 1997 Chevrolet Lumina, encountered a deer that had run onto the road, police said. The auto and the deer collided. Brady was not injured. Police took no enforcement.

Slippery Road

Police said that while driving a 1999 Nissan Pathfinder northward near 265 South Main Street about 1 am October 27, motorist Jacob Gotliboski, 22, of 15 Turkey Hill Road lost control of the vehicle while negotiating a curve on the wet roadway.

The SUV then went off the right side of the street and struck a rock, police said.

Gotliboski was not injured. Police took no enforcement.
