The sixth annual John Giorno Memorial 3-On-3 Basketball Tournament will return to its familiar slot next month when it tips off on Saturday, November 10, at Newtown High School.

Because of scheduling conflicts last year, the tournament was bumped to January. It was still successful, continuing to raise money for the Giorno college fund in memory of John Giorno, a longtime friend to Newtown basketball.

The tournament is double elimination, open to the first 56 teams to sign up. Applications will be accepted at the door based upon available space (visit www.nighthawksports.com to download an application now).

Payment must accompany registration. There will be only one division and entry fee allowed per registration. Each registered team must have a team name and three or four players. False information is grounds for disqualification.

Players grade as of September 2007 school year. Teams must play in correct age division and only one travel team child per team is permitted.

There will be no refunds for any reason.

For the U4, fifth- and sixth-grade brackets captains must check in at 8 am to receive rules and team t-shirts. Players should arrive by 8:15 am and play will begin at 8:30 am. Youngest plays first. Players should arrive 30 minutes before game.

For the seventh- and eighth-grade brackets, captains must check in at 10 am and play will begin at 12 noon. For the remaining age brackets, captains must check in at 12 noon and play will begin at 1:30 pm (depending on # of teams).
